Description
Dandelion root has more of an affinity for the liver than the leaves, and is a potent cholagogue (stimulates flow of bile) that can be employed to treat ailments of the liver and gallbladder such as hepatitis, gallstones, jaundice, liver congestion, and inflammation of the bile duct. The root can also be used in instances of heat and dampness in the liver and digestive tract. Dandelion works well for most chronic inflammatory conditions, even in severe cases where the heat and fluids have gone as deep as the bone layer. To prevent detox reactions, include hepatoprotective herbs like licorice or milk thistle.
Cautions
Sensitivity to plants in the Asteraceae family. May cause temporary detox reactions.
