A fumigation of Juniper smoke is common practice in European folk tradition. This revered tree is best known for it's protective and cleansing properties. The ancients also believed this aromatic smoke aided clairvoyance. It is burned to ward away evil spirits and to enhance contact with the Otherworld at Samhain festivals at the start of the Celtic year.
