Description

Devil’s Club is regarded as the most significant plant, medically and spiritually, to the indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest. Different parts of this plant are used by at least 38 linguistic groups for over 34 medical ailments, as well as many spiritual uses. The widespread uses amongst the indigenous includes treatment for arthritis, rheumatism, diabetes, delayed menstruation, constipation, colds, coughs, infections, sores, and more. Some of the spiritual uses include purification, cleansing, and protection. Recent phytochemical research has shown marked antimicrobial and hypoglycemic effects. Devil’s Club is sometimes called the Alaskan Ginseng because it belongs to the same plant family as the true Ginsengs, and is native to the PNW.
